Masoud Shojaei es posiblemente el jugador más exótico que ha pasado por las filas de Osasuna. Con su paso de la banda derecha a la delantera el iraní se ha asentado en el once titular de Camacho, si bien su juego barroco no termina de convencer a todos. Masoud, ángel y demonio.

Masoud Shojaei is probably the most exotic player in Osasuna’s history. Lately he has been playing as a forward, and since then he has improved his contribution to the team. However, not everybody is pleased with his game style. Masoud, angel and devil.

Es la hora de Masoud/It´s Masoud’s time

Masoud Shojaei se estaba quemando pegado en la banda. No es su posición natural, tal y como avisó en el día de su presentación. Pero el iraní acalló muchas bocas en el partido del Santiago Bernabéu.

Masoud Shojaei was really disappointed playing as a winger. Is not my natural position, he said in his first appearance in Pamplona. And ten days ago he proved that in Real Madrid’s stadium.

En los últimos partidos Masoud Shojaei estaba siendo muy discutido por la afición de Osasuna. El iraní jugaba los minutos basura de los partidos, y encima contra el Barça perdió el balón que derivó en el gol de la victoria blaugrana.

Osasuna’s fans were very disappointed with Masoud Shojaei’s last performances. The iranian was playing just the last minutes of the matches, and against Barcelona he lost the ball that ended in Roberto’s net.

La grada quiere a Plasil en Osasuna

La actuación de Jaroslav Plasil ante el Atlético de Madrid encandiló a la afición rojilla, después de que el checo hubiera estado el último mes ausente de las convocatorias de José Antonio Camacho. La grada necesitaba su dosis de Plasil -convocado por su seleccionador para jugar ante San Marino el 19 de noviembre-, quien no defraudó, erigiéndose en el mejor rojillo sobre el césped del Reyno de Navarra.

After a month in blank, Osasuna’s supporters enjoyed themselves with Jaroslav Plasil’s performance last sunday against Atlético de Madrid. The crowd needed their dose of Plasil, and the czech was voted ‘Man of the Match’.

Jaroslav Plasil es el jugador con más renombre a nivel internacional de la plantilla de Osasuna, a años luz de futbolistas como Javad Nekounam o Santi Ezquerro. El año pasado el checo fue uno de los indispensables de la escuadra rojilla, y ya este verano dejó entrever que quería cambiar de aires.

Jaroslav Plasil is Osasuna’s most famous player by far, much more than Javad Nekounam and Santi Ezquerro. Last year, he was one of the essentials of the squad, but this summer he revealed in an interview that he was opened to a transfer: “I want to progress, reach higher”. It was said that Osasuna rejected a 6 million euros offer for him.

Las últimas jornadas de Liga están deparando nefastos resultados para Osasuna. Si bien es cierto que esta pésima racha -ya era mala antes- coincide con la llegada de Camacho al banquillo, tampoco debemos pasar por alto que el peor juego del equipo esta ligado al malísimo estado de forma de Nekounam y Masoud.

La Liga´s last fixtures are bringing awful results for Osasuna. This terrible spell of bad games matches up with the arrival of new coach, José Antonio Camacho -it was bad, but not as bad with Ziganda- but we must not forget about the low form state of the two iranians.

After some matches with Neko playing far away from his best, we asked our readers to gave their opinion about him. What would they do with Javad next match? The answer has been categorical: 57% of the voters still want to give the iranian more oportunities.

¿Dónde está Nekounam?/Where is Nekounam?

Nadie sabe acerca de él desde hace varias semanas. Está desaparecido en combate, y sin él el objetivo de la salvación resulta más complicado todavía. Su nombre es Javad Nekounam, y se ofrece una recompensa suculenta a aquel que dé con su paradero.

Masoud deberá esperar/Masoud must wait

Después de una disputada jornada, la Comunidad Blogsasuna se ha decantado por un estrecho margen por seguir dejando en el banquillo a Masoud Shojaei en el próximo encuentro el sábado ante el Betis. De este modo, a la hora del cierre de la encuesta (16:00 h.), el resultado de la pregunta ‘¿Masoud titular?’ se ha saldado con 32 votos a favor de la suplencia del iraní y 30 votos en contra.

The Blogsasuna Community has talked after an intense debate about the convenience of Masoud’s presence in Osasuna’s starting line up. And, finally, the red supporters have decided to give the iranian player a break, with 32 votes in favour and 30 votes against Masoud’s return to the team.

¿Vuelta al banquillo?/Back on bench?

Masoud Shojaei es el futbolista más diferente de la plantilla osasunista. El iraní es capaz de hacer cosas que a los demás ni se les pasa por la cabeza, con un descaro propio de los grandes jugadores.

Masoud Shojaei is the most different player of Osasuna’s squad. The iranian is the most skillful player of the team, and since his first match in La Liga he has shown he has no pressure.

Winds of change

Osasuna’s fans woke up last morning with the new that the club sacked coach José Ángel Cuco Ziganda, after a disappointing start of the season. Last match against Racing and also the defeat against Toulouse made president Patxi Izco change his mind and act drasticly.

The decission has been a surprise for everyone in Pamplona, specially when it was said that the club was going to wait two more fixtures to take a decision, the matches against Sporting and Betis. No coach has been fired from Osasuna in the middle of a season in more than eleven years and this dismissal means a revolution in the club´s policy.

Searching for solutions

After the first six matches, we can now assure that the beggining of this season is not going well for Osasuna. With only four points out of 18,  the team is in the 16th position of La Liga. Two goals scored and no victories are far away of being good numbers.

Spectators at Reyno de Navarra stadium were annoyed after the goal of Racing de Santander last sunday and some of them asked for a dimision of the manager, Cuco Ziganda. Patience is running out for many Osasuna fans and what it was supposed to be a very good year is turning slowly to another season of suffering, but is still soon to came to a conclusion and many changes can be done to get a solution.

Believe

No one in Pamplona wants to remember Sunday’s match against Numancia. The good things that Osasuna showed in the previous tests disappeared in just 90 minutes. Cuco Ziganda’s squad didn´t reach the opponents area with danger, and the supporters got really bored.

Anyway, Osasuna is placed in the 14th position of La Liga, with three games played away and just two at home. Next Sunday the players will face Racing Santander, team that is playing the UEFA Cup but still haven´t won in the season.

Bad luck

The beggining of the season is being hard for Osasuna. Four games played and only three points in the clasification by now. The last game, against Deportivo de La Coruña, was the third draw and the first scoreless tie, but the red players deserved the victory.

Masoud Shojaei played the 90 minutes for the first time and he completed a quite good performance, although he missed a nice chance to score in the first half. He showed everyone again his dribbling skills, but most of his attempts didn´t ended with real dangerous moves. At the end of the second half, he began to look tired.
